Greedy flock!- the lost post discovered! 11th march

I'd declare war but I'm not sure which weapons would be most effective! I launched operation 'CD tree' last week in an attempt to save the last 12 or so peaches (the main tree was laden with over 100). Though intially encouraged having seen one Pukeko eye them suspiciously, later the same day there was one sitting in the tree (an amusing sight given their proportions!) pecking the fruit through the bird net. Having rearranged the net, there still seem to be a few untouched that might even make it through to ripeness, and now the greedy birds have moved on to the fejoas. More distressingly, they dug up most of my seedlings even though protected by many sticks- literally uprooted and the roots stripped of soil- need to discover some more effective defences!
