Just got back from a lovely 24hours (felt like longer!) away with 'the ladies' (7 of the Grace church ladies). A child free getaway on an island (35mins on a ferry). We managed not to spend the whole weekend commenting how much easier it was to go places/ get out the door etc etc without children (but it was- much easier!!). We stayed in a bach clinging to the hillside with a wonderful view of sea and islands- out across the Hauraki Gulf and beyond. Enjoyed being able to walk places, have a meal out, and best of all a swim in the sea- a long swim in the sea- very much enjoyed. Also visited a vineyard and people watched while others wine tasted- saw a different sector of society dining in the restaurant! So a good time- managed to exist without the children - found it quite easy really- but the fear was there beforehand that I'd forgotten how to live and relate to people without them around!!!
Back at home I was welcomed enthusiastically by both children and a husband who'd done a terrific job (they've been hard work and moany this week- L teething? C adjusting??). C lying in bed tonight 'my really love you, Mummy'.
Next excitment of this weekend (packing it in!!) is going to an open day at Daddy's work tomorrow 'my think we can go in the cockpit and see lots of aeroplanes out the window, maybe' says C- should be good!
Ah yes and on the subject of escape- C has discovered how to get out the front door (Alfie style ie get a stool), unfortunately unlike Alfie (who is letting people in) C is letting himself out! Hmm!
